Privacy Policy

FocusWard, provided by Maxim Sych, helps you temporarily block distractions. This policy explains the data used by the iOS beta, its Safari extensions, and the dashboard and cloud service used to sync your settings and sessions.

Data on your device

With your permission, FocusWard uses Apple's Screen Time APIs to restrict apps and websites you select. Screen Time selections, local session deadlines, cached website lists, and your last session settings are stored on your device. Screen Time app-selection tokens are not uploaded to FocusWard's cloud service. The app and its extensions share the local state needed to enforce a session.

The Safari extensions examine website addresses to decide whether a rule applies. Matching is performed on your device. FocusWard does not upload a browsing-history feed or the content of pages you visit. Your chosen blocklists are different from browsing history and are synced when you use an account.

Account and cloud sync

Local Screen Time blocking does not require an account. If you sign in with Google, our authentication service receives your account identifier, email address, and basic profile information provided by Google. FocusWard does not receive your Google password. For pre-created accounts, email and password sign-in sends those credentials securely to Supabase for verification. The app does not save the password. Refresh tokens are kept in the iOS Keychain; the dashboard uses browser storage to keep you signed in.

Cloud data includes your blocklist names and entries, selected application identifiers in desktop lists, block-page destination and other synced settings, registered device identifiers and names, platform and last-sync times, and shared session start/end times, selected lists, target devices and reported status. We use this data to sync your choices and coordinate sessions across your devices.

For background session updates, the service stores an Apple push token linked to your iPhone. Push messages contain a wake-up signal, not your website lists. The Safari extension can check whether a shared session ended using a limited, temporary session token; it does not receive your account's login tokens.

Block pages and other services

The motivation page is hosted at focusward.pages.dev. To return you to the original page, the extension puts its address in a URL fragment (the part after “#”), which is not sent in the HTTP request to the hosting server. The extension reads that fragment locally. If you choose a custom redirect, your browser visits that destination and its own privacy policy applies.

We use Supabase for authentication and cloud storage, Google for sign-in, Cloudflare for website hosting, and Apple's services for Screen Time, push delivery and TestFlight distribution. Network requests expose technical data, such as IP address, request time and client information, to the service handling them. These providers may maintain operational and security logs under their own policies. Data may be processed outside your country.

FocusWard does not include advertising or cross-app advertising trackers, and does not sell your data. We use service data for functionality, troubleshooting and security. Apple may provide beta feedback, screenshots, crash reports and testing metrics through TestFlight. Please avoid including sensitive information in feedback or screenshots.

Retention, deletion and your choices

Account data is retained while your account is in use. Removing a synced list marks it as deleted so other devices can learn about the removal; this is not immediate erasure from storage. Session records may remain after a session ends. Signing out or uninstalling the app does not delete your cloud account.

To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and cloud data, contact the developer through TestFlight → FocusWard → Send Beta Feedback. State the email address used for FocusWard and the request. We may verify account ownership before acting. Deleted data may remain in backups or security logs until those records are rotated, or where retention is required by law.

You can end sessions in the app, revoke Screen Time access in iOS Settings, disable the Safari extensions, or sign out of cloud sync. Your rights may also include data portability, objection or restriction of processing and a complaint to your local privacy authority, depending on applicable law.

FocusWard is intended for self-directed focus, not monitoring another person's activity. We will update this page when data practices change and revise the date above.
